Author Patrick Rothfuss doesn’t want us to rule anything out.

Set in the world of the wildly popular fantasy series by Rothfuss, THE KINGKILLER CHRONICLE will follow a pair of wandering performers on their adventures through the unique and startling world of Temerant, immersing audiences in a universe of unexpected heroes, mystical places, and terrifying dark forces.

Here’s the description of the series from a press release: The fantasy TV series is supposed to be set a generation before the events of the first book in the series, and it’s been in development for years with Lin-Manuel Miranda ( Hamilton, Mary Poppins Returns) leading the charge as the creative producer and he will also create the music. The series consists of The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear with a third book, The Doors of Stone, yet to be released. The Kingkiller Chronicles is a book series written by Patrick Rothfuss that follows Kvothe as he narrates his life as an adventurer and musician to a scribe. Especially with most streamers needing more original content.

However, Lionsgate is looking for a new home for the series and I don’t know that it’ll be too hard to find someone else to pick it up. That’s right, after two years of development, the show no longer has a home.

Showtime has decided not to continue forward with The Kingkiller Chronicle series.
